The 25th Annual Conference of China National Specialty Gases was held on May 18-19, 2023 in Hefei. The conference was aimed at exchanging academic views, discussing academic issues, comprehending policy guidance, exploring industry hotspots & opportunities, and sharing industry technical achievements and successful experience of enterprises. More than 200 experts and enterprise representatives from China national special gases industry participated in the conference to share the new technological achievements and successful experience of the enterprises, to discuss the hotspots and difficulties in the development of the industry, and analyze the current situation and future prospects of the industry, and to seek for common development of the industry. They discussed the hot and difficult issues in the development of the industry, analyzed the current situation of the industry and its future prospects, and made plans for the development of the industry. Mr. Pu Chungan, executive vice president of China Industrial Gas Industry Association (CIGIA), was invited to attend this meeting and made a speech on behalf of CIGIA.

Committee members and experts reviewed a number of China national standards of "Electronic Special Gas Carbon Monoxide", "Electronic Special Gas Carbon Dioxide", "Electronic Special Gas Carbonyl Sulfur".

Mr. Fu Chungan pointed out that gases are industrial blood, electronic food, energy security, life support, health care, food additives, insurance boost, fire extinguishing, intelligent energy storage, carbon neutral support, etc.; there are many categories of special gases, which can be usually differentiated into electronic gases, medical gases, food and welding gases, sterilizing gases, standard gases, green gases, and so on. As basic chemical materials, special gases have a wide range of applications. Although the total usage or the usage per unit of such gases is small or insignificant, any possible “cut off” it will jeopardize the security of the industrial upply chain and lead to an obstruction of the development of the whole industry.

In order to be close to the development of industry enterprises and serve the high-quality development of the industry, CIGIA group standard of has been established in 2017, and registered on China national group standard management platform. Since the compilation and release of group standards in 2018, 8 gas safety standards, 6 gas equipment standards, 7 electronic gas standards, 12 energy gas standards (including 11 hydrogen energy standards), 9 food and drug gas standards, 6 fire-fighting gas standards, 2 industrial gas standards, 2 gas storage and transportation standards, and 3 general basic standards, a total of 55 items have been compiled and released, many of which fill the gaps in China's gas industry standards.

Bellowing standards are being prepared and planned to be released early next month: 16 helium industry series standards, 2 hydrogen forklift standards, 1 plateau portable oxygen equipment standard, and 1 semiconductor tail gas treatment efficiency test standard, totaling 20 items.
