On June 25, China's first high-pressure pure hydrogen pipeline test was successfully conducted at the Pipeline Fracture Control Test Site of China National Pipe Network Group (NPNG), which will provide technical support for the realization of large-scale and low-cost long-distance pure hydrogen transportation in China in the future.

In the Pipeline Fracture Control Test Site of China National Pipe Network Group in Hami, the staff completed the 6.3 MPa pipeline hydrogen charging test and 9.45 MPa pipeline bursting test, and all the results met expectations.

Qiu Shujuan, a technical expert at the Western Pipeline Company of China National Pipe Network Group, said, "We utilized a period of one-month to do the tests, which includes the hydrogen charging test (of the pipeline) and the two stages of (pure hydrogen) bursting, to verify the hydrogen compatibility and barrier properties of the pipeline equipment and the sealing of the equipment connections."

The test is the first high-pressure on-line test of a hydrogen-transporting non-metallic pipeline in China, and the first high-pressure pure-hydrogen bursting test of a non-metallic pipeline in China. The pipeline fracture control test site of China National Pipe Network Group, on which the test relies, is the third pipeline fracture control test site in the world after the UK and Italy.
